On this full-day excursion you’ll get a crash-course in all things old and new in Beirut. To understand the history of the city and Lebanon in general you’ll visit the National Museum, not only to peruse the fascinating artefacts inside but also learn how this building survived and was restored during the civil war.
You’ll also take time to discover the downtown area, home to Martyrs’ Square, Mohammad Al-Amin Mosque, Saint George’s Maronite Cathedral, Place de l’Etoile, and Beirut souks. Having received a significant face lift in the last few years this part of town is looking particularly slick and there are lots of new cafes and restaurants to take a break or have some lunch in. There’ll also be some time to discover the Corniche, a lovely place to take a stroll, watch the fishermen wind in their daily catch, and in the summer spot locals jumping off the rocks into the sea.
