Les Ateliers de Tyr is a sustainable project created by the the local community in order to promote traditional products and crafts in the region. The workshops are inspired by the Phoenicians, not only in the things that they produce but also in the make-up of the buildings this project calls home. They are designed with eco-friendly techniques in mind, with locally-sourced materials and renewable sources of energy.
At the centre you can simply have a wander around and observe the silversmiths, pottery masters, and textile printers, or get involved yourself with making something; have a go at throwing a piece on the potters’ wheel, or sit down with an expert to create your own piece of jewellery. This is the perfect place to visit if you love arts and crafts, and gives visitors a real insight into handicrafts in Lebanon as they have been produced for centuries.
